Purpose

Puns are a marvelous thing. They are super simple, but also
creative and invoke laughter. They build comradery amongst pun lovers and can lighten the mood in nearly every situation.

That’s what I want. I want to help lighten people’s moods,
bring humor to their situation or topic they’re interested in, and help people think of a way to connect with each other even when common interests are not necessarily there.

Typically a pun combines two seemingly unrelated things into
one single joke. They can be either intentional or an accident, but just the
recognition of the coincidence of the intersection between two topics brings
humor to a situation.

Just as puns connect two seemingly separate things, I believe humor is both a gift from God to invoke laughter, but also to point toward His gift of joy. Humor is not the same thing as joy, nor is joy a sense of amusement or even the same thing as happiness.

But humor can be a component, and is a sign that we realize all things of this Earth are trivial compared to God’s plan. It is a sign that the things of this world, even the darkest times, are nothing in comparison to God’s gift of salvation and an eternal life filled with joy.

Ultimately, joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. When we are intentional about letting the Holy Spirit work in our lives, we get to practice and benefit from those fruits of the Spirit. It is a result of following in the footsteps of Jesus and bringing glory to God.

1 Peter 1:8-9 “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

Punreal’s purpose is to use humor to point toward that gift of joy found in Jesus Christ.

If you want that sort of joy, there are many resources available to you online and at your local church. For now, salvation comes when you believe and dedicate yourself to follow Jesus Christ.

The following prayer is a template you can use when thinking about what to pray to the God and start your relationship with him.

Dear LORD, thank you for creating everything and bringing me into that magnificent creation. I know I am a sinner and as a result, I thank you for your mercy and pray that I can become better and better at following Jesus rather than the ways of the world. You overcame all sin and death on the cross through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and the gift of salvation is something I humbly accept but know that I did nothing to deserve it. Help me to find joy in this salvation. I believe in the sacrifice of Jesus, and believe that Jesus rose from the dead because of the power you have over the grave. In the same way, you have the power to overcome sin in my life. Show me the way to bring Glory to you God, and fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I may overcome sin and exercise the fruits of the spirit. I love you and praise you Lord. Thanks you for being my rock and my redeemer, AMEN.
